Recently a close friend of mine introduced me to the work of Brené Brown, research professor at the University of Houston and best-selling author.
Brown launched her podcast 'Unlocking Us' last year at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the first episode provided guidance on how to deal with what she termed FFTs: "F-ing First Times" (I try to refrain from cursing on this blog).
In short, Brown offers insightful and pragmatic advice for handling the psychological pressure we all feel when undertaking a new experience for the first time.
I won't provide details on the exact strategies Brown puts forth because she did a much better job than I could hope to do.
Instead, I recommend that you listen to her own words, which you can do by clicking here, or by searching for 'Unlocking Us' wherever you get your podcasts.
